Five people were arrested after fleeing an armed robbery in the downtown Fred Meyer parking lot, Dec. 7. The one adult and four juveniles are now also being investigated for other crimes committed earlier in the day in South King County.
Renton Police Department shared information on the arrest in a press release as follows: Just before 11 a.m., officers received a call from a woman who had her purse stolen at gunpoint in the parking lot of the Fred Meyer located at 365 Renton Center Way SW. The victim said the suspects left in a silver Honda.
Within two minutes, Renton officers spotted the car a few blocks from the Fred Meyer and gave chase. Officers were able to stop the car on Southwest Grady Way where the five occupants were detained without incident. One handgun was found.
The chase closed down the road for some time on Monday as police detained and investigated.
Investigators believe one suspect is an adult and the other suspects are juveniles. Their ages and other details about them are not available at this time. Investigators are still determining what charges each of them may be facing, as police are also investigating the group’s role in a rash of other crimes committed earlier today throughout South King County.
