Evening work will continue this week on state Route 900 through Skyway, so drivers who use eastbound SR 900/Martin Luther King Junior Way South to travel from Seattle to Renton should plan ahead for evening and overnight detours this week.
Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will close the eastbound lanes between Interstate 5 and South 129th Street nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. tonight, June 13 to the morning of Friday, June 17.
Drivers will follow a posted detour.
The crews will be grinding portions of the highway as part of a 3.2 mile project to replace concrete, asphalt and shoulders that are cracked and in need of repair.
Westbound closures are scheduled for the week of June 20.
Full closure of SR 900 scheduled for June 24-27
Both directions of SR 900 between South Boeing Access Road and South 129th Street are scheduled to be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, June 24 to 5 a.m. Monday, June 27.
A section of the highway is settling and needs to be replaced. During the weekend closure, crews will remove all the concrete panels and roadbed, rebuild the road base and then repave.
