A 20-year-old man was shot in the face early Sunday morning at a party in Skyway, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.
His injuries, while serious, were not believed to be life-threatening, according to Sgt. John Urquhart, a sheriff’s spokesman.
According to Urquhart, at about 1 a.m. Sunday the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call about a fight at a party and shots fired. However the address provided by the caller was incorrect and deputies were delayed in finding the true location, which was in the 7800 block of South 116th Street.
By the time deputies arrived, the party house was dark, shades were drawn and no one was outside, according to Urquhart. However, when deputies went inside, they found 20 to 30 adults and juveniles in the house. Apparently many others left before deputies arrived, according to Urquhart.
While interviewing party-goers, the Sheriff’s Office got a call from Valley Medical Center, where doctors were treating the 20 year-old gunshot victim. Deputies went to the hospital and learned there was a fight in front of the party-house, guns were pulled and shots were fired, according to Urquhart. The man was wounded in the melee and driven to Valley Medical by his cousin and later transferred to Harborview, according to Urquhart.
The investigation is continuing and there have been no arrests, according to Urquhart.
