Six fire departments in South King County are looking to hire a total of 40 to 50 firefighters.

Fire agencies in South King County formed Wa Fire Careers in early 2022 in an effort to streamline and simplify the process of becoming a firefighter, making it more affordable, accessible and inclusive for all.

Starting pay will be $82,569 per year, according to an email from Puget Sound Fire spokesperson Pat Pawlak.

Applicants must register at WA Fire Careers by Aug. 31. If selected, recruits would start in late January 2023 and begin the 20-week fire academy on Feb. 6, 2023.

• King County Fire District #20

• Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority

• Renton Regional Fire Authority

• Tukwila Fire Department

• Valley Regional Fire Authority
