Shaquille O’Neal’s Big Chicken restaurant seeks employees for new Renton location

Potential employees are asked to apply online or to attend the job fair over Halloween weekend at the restaurant’s location in Renton Landing.

Shaquille O’Neal’s restaurant chain Big Chicken will soon be roosting in Renton, but before the restaurant’s grand opening, the working eggs must be in order.

On Saturday Oct. 29, a hiring event took place at the resturant’s location — 21-A N 10th Street in Renton Landing — to prepare for the restaurant’s launch, which is scheduled for November.

Big Chicken is hiring for hourly and management positions and interested candidates were able to attend the hiring event at the new location. Interested candidates can still online.

“We’re excited to bring together a team of people who are passionate about big food, big flavor and big fun,” said David Jones, owner of Big Chicken in Renton. Jones and his wife Lorri are established PNW business owners with four Subways and eight Blazing Onions.

The new Renton location will be the second Big Chicken in Washington state, with the first location having opened at Climate Pledge Arena in October 2021.

Founded in 2018, Big Chicken came from the Hall of Fame basketball star’s love for the home-cooked meals from his childhood. Menu items include crispy chicken sandwiches, Cheez-It crust macaroni and cheese and cookies big enough for Shaq himself.
