Former Lakeridge Elementary School students Bob Hodges, Jerry Belur and Ed Barker recently worked through the Renton Schools Foundation to provide $30,000 in funding assistance for students, families, and staff at Lakeridge Elementary on Oct. 14.
The men have been friends since attending Lakeridge 60 years ago.
After meeting with Lakeridge Principal Holly Megan Thompson, Bob, Jerry, and Ed decided to help fund school programs to benefit students and assist working parents.
“There is no doubt the school educators and staff are truly dedicated to their students,” said Jerry, “but we saw a need where we thought we might be able to help.”
The two year funding will be used to improve student achievement, enhance adult volunteer participation, support PTA activities that are student and family focused, and support before or after school activities.
“We are anxious to get this program started and hope to see positive results for Lakeridge students, families, and staff,” said Jerry.
