Renton power outages caused by a beaver

Beavers are the prime suspect of a power outage that affected about 350 people Saturday.

A tree fell into a high voltage line at 925 Houser Way N., affecting The Landing, spokesperson Abigail Elliott.

The outage was reported at about 11:50 a.m., and most of the power was restored by 2:15 p.m.

The PSE work crew reported that a beaver was likely what caused the tree to fall into the power line, Elliott said.

Police and later a flagger blocked off Houser Way near Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park. On sunny weekends, boaters and picnickers often park on Houser.

Occasional power outages, lasting about 30 minutes each, put a dampener on Fry’s Electronics 25th Anniversary celebration.

The outage also affected street lights. All power was restored by 6 p.m.
