Renton police are investigating the death of a 40-year-old woman as a pedestrian fatality after finding her deceased lying in the road on April 20.
At 10:21 p.m., Renton police dispatched for a welfare check of a person lying in the right lane of the roadway in the 15200 block of Maple Valley Highway.
A traffic investigation of the scene led to a closure of the southbound lanes of Maple Valley Highway for a number of hours. The roadway has reopened.
Police have not determined the cause of death, awaiting results from the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.
According to a news release from the Renton Police Department, a witness advised seeing a vehicle striking the victim as the victim already lay in the roadway.
Police have asked the public for any witnesses and information to assist in the investigation.
