Drive-by shooting
Renton police dispatched on May 11 at approximately 5:31 a.m. to the 800 block of Sunset Boulevard Northeast for an illegal discharge.
According to reports, callers heard six shots in a potential drive-by shooting. Officers arrived to see “numerous” neighbors outside in the street, according to the department. The shooting resulted in property damage to apartments.
Officers interviewed victims with property damage, no victims knew why they would be targeted, according to the department. Officers located 21 empty 9mm cartridge casings.
Police have no suspect information nor motive regarding the incident as of May 19. Surveillance cameras checked in the immediate area recorded nothing of value. The department forwarded the case to investigations for further review.
Renton police have not received any reports regarding injuries from the incident, according to the department.
Residence shot at
Renton police dispatched on May 18 at 1:44 a.m. to the 10900 block of Southeast 186th Street after unknown suspects shot at a family’s residence.
Units arrived and observed “numerous” bullet holes in the residence.
According to the department, the family said to police “There was no reason (the) house was targeted, no one in the residence had a problem with anyone and they are not associated with any gang activity.”
No injuries resulted from the incident and no other residences were hit, according to the department. The residence was occupied by three subjects at the time of the shooting.
Surveillance video showed an unknown-licensed black Dodge leaving at a high rate of speed and fleeing south on 108th Avenue Southeast after the incident.
Police have no suspect information regarding the incident as of May 19. The department forwarded the case to investigations for further review.
Assault
Renton police dispatched on May 16 at 12:30 p.m. to the 1500 block of Duvall Avenue Northeast for a report of a physical domestic incident at a gas station.
The reporting party advised a man was hitting a woman at the gas station, according to the department. The female left the scene on foot north on Duvall Ave., and the man left in a vehicle.
Immediately following the incident, a second caller reported a man hitting a woman near the 1700 block of Duvall Avenue Northeast.
Officers arrived on scene and located the man and woman involved, interviewing both and questioning additional witnesses at the scene, according to the department.
Police determined the man and woman — who have a domestic relationship — had an argument in the vehicle and the man kicked the woman out of his vehicle. She yelled and spit at him and the man left the vehicle and pulled her hair and grabbed her throat, resulting in injury.
Witnesses in the area stated they saw the man as the aggressor and witnessed him hit her or attempt to hit her.
Officers noticed red marks on the victim’s face and she reported pain.
Officers developed probable cause to arrest the 43-year-old man on assault in the fourth-degree charges and booked him into the SCORE Jail.
Shooting at gas station
Renton police dispatched on May 22 at approximately 11 p.m. to a non-injury shooting at a gas station in the 700 block of South Grady Way.
As officers approached the location, dispatch informed the officers multiple callers reported shots fired and that it was unclear where the suspect was.
Police arrived at the gas station where they observed multiple glass windows had been struck with gunfire, according to the department. The officer contacted the employee, who advised he had been eating lunch inside the store when he heard multiple gunshots and looked up to see that a TV monitor and several windows had been struck by gunfire.
Surveillance footage showed a dark gray Dodge Charger getting hit with gunfire prior to fleeing northbound with a silver sedan on Talbot Road South and then west on South 7th Street. Police determined the shots originated from South Grady Way near the southern entrance to the parking lot.
The officer located seven 9mm shell casings in the street in front of the southern entrance.
The next day, the Washington State Patrol located the Dodge Charger on southbound State Route 167. Officers arrived and observed bullet damage on the hood of the vehicle as well as the passenger side of the windshield.
Officers seized and impounded the vehicle to the Renton Police Department’s evidence garage for further follow-up investigation.
