Shot at
Renton police were dispatched on Dec. 5 at approximately 8:42 p.m. to a report of a shooting at an apartment complex in the 2100 block of Southwest Sunset Boulevard in Renton. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Officers contacted the reporting party at the scene who advised he observed a dark colored sedan idling on the west side of one of the buildings prior to hearing a gunshot and seeing a flash of light from the driver’s side of the sedan. Shortly after the gunshot, the man described hearing a whistling sound, appearing to be a bullet passing above his head, according to the department.
The vehicle left the complex through the west exit and the reporting party ran to his apartment, according to the department. The reporting party was unable to give further suspect information and vehicle description. The reporting party advised he does not believe he is being targeted and does not have enemies, according to the department. No shell casings were located, and neither was the suspect vehicle.
Shootout at an intersection
Renton police were dispatched on Dec. 4 at approximately 2:03 p.m. to a shooting that occurred near the intersection of Southwest 7th Street and Hardie Avenue Southwest in Renton. According to dispatch, witnesses in the area observed two vehicles shooting at each other prior to fleeing in the direction of Rainier Avenue South, with one vehicle potentially receiving damage from bullet impact.
The vehicles fled the area prior to the arrival of officers. Police located no victims near the location of the incident. They located several spent shell casings west of the intersection. The roadway was shut down to vehicular traffic while officers collected numerous shell casings from the roadway. Police received reports of damage in the area to a vehicle and a business resulting from bullet impact, according to the department.
Rocks and threats
Renton police were dispatched on Dec. 6 at approximately 2:28 p.m. to the 400 block of Harrington Avenue Northeast in Renton after receiving a report of an assault with a firearm.
Officers contacted a juvenile boy and his parents upon arrival. The boy advised he was walking home with his friend in the 500 block of Northeast 5th Place when they observed a dark gray four door sedan driving at a high rate of speed, according to the department. The boy stated he picked up a rock when he saw the vehicle coming because he had several vehicles almost hit him intentionally while walking home.
The boy threw the rock at the vehicle and it struck the driver’s side rear quarter panel. The vehicle turned around and drove past them and stopped. The driver jumped out of the vehicle and approached the boy saying homophobic slurs prior to pulling out of a handgun from his jacket pocket. The boy and his friend and driver all got involved in a verbal dispute that resulted in the suspect driver pushing one of the boys to the ground.
The driver then fled the location, according to the department. The victims advised they did not know who the suspect was, but potentially would be able to identify him if seen again.
Interrupted burglary
Renton police were dispatched on Dec. 6 at approximately 6:04 a.m. to an interrupted burglary at a cannabis processing business in the 2900 block of Lind Avenue Southwest. According to the department, the reporting party advised he interrupted a burglary to the business when he arrived. He advised he followed the suspect vehicle, described as a silver BMW SUV, and dispatch requested he discontinue following the suspect vehicle, but the reporting party refused.
He then advised someone in the suspect vehicle shot at him, and he lost sight of the vehicle near West Valley Road. The victim advised he didn’t get a close enough look at the suspects to provide a detailed description, according to the department. Officers were unable to locate any shell casings in the area of the shooting, and were unable to find damage to the victim’s vehicle.
The handle to the front door of the business was broken from being pried open, according to the department. The business was cleared and the victim checked for missing items, advising police it did not appear the suspects took anything, according to the department.
Domestic incident
Renton police were dispatched on Dec. 8 at approximately 5:31 a.m. to a physical domestic call at an apartment complex in the 1100 block of Union Avenue Northeast in Renton. According to the department, the incident involved a man and woman in a romantic relationship. Both parties had drank at a casino and returned home where an argument started.
The man physically assaulted the woman, armed himself with a handgun, and threatened her with the firearm, advising he was going to kill her, according to police. Following further investigation, the man was arrested for assault in the first degree and transported to jail.
