The Renton Reporter and Umpqua Bank present Fem Allies In Business (F.A.B.) at Umpqua Bank: A professional women’s networking group, this event is held every second Thursday of the month and is a free event that includes light breakfast, tea and coffee, time for mingling and two guest speakers. Uniting to Combat Hunger Dinner/Dance Fundraiser at VFW Aux 1263: From 5-8 p.m., help raise money for the Renton Rotary Salvation Army Foodbank with a $20 dinner of homemade fried tacos, Spanish rice, refried beans and the fixings. Renton Art Lounge: Where Creativity Connects! at Black River Cultural Arts Center: This is not just an event — it’s a celebration of our creative community. Whether you’re an artist, art lover, or just curious about the art scene in Renton, everyone is welcome! The Renton American Legion Fred Hancock Post 19: This organization meets the third Thursday of every month, except December, at 7 p.m. at the Post Hall (3224 Northeast 12th Street) in the Renton Highlands under the water tower. All veterans are welcome. Most vets are eligible for membership. America’s premier patriotic veterans’ organization and the prime driver of the original G. I. Bill, the Legion focuses on service to veterans, has influenced considerable social change in America, won hundreds of benefits for veterans and produced many important programs for the community, children and youth. Come join area vets.

Free Museum Day at the Renton History Museum: Enjoy the wonders of the past with free admission to the museum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free museum days are every first Wednesday and third Saturday of each month.
3rd annual Downtown Renton Chocolate Crawl: It’s back, chocolate lovers. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., enjoy chocolate stops, specials and downtown shopping. Starting at Cugini Florists & Fine Gifts, the last check-in will be at 2 p.m. Admission is $40 for adults and $20 for children. Group packs (two adults and two children) are $100. Cugini is located at 413 South 3rd Street in Renton.

National Girls & Women in Sports Day Celebration at Don Persson Renton Senior Activity Center: From 6-9 p.m., be inspired by the stories and experiences of trailblazing women in sports, celebrate the accomplishments of female athletes, coaches, and leaders in our community, enjoy a delicious dinner, and engage in an enlightening panel discussion featuring prominent figures who shed light on the challenges and victories of women in the sports world. Shooting Star Soiree Winter Family Dance at Renton Community Center: From 6- 8p.m., dance to your favorite tunes, strike a pose at the photo booth, enjoy some light refreshments, and take home a special keepsake. An enchanting night of family fun and memories awaits you at this year’s Shooting Star Soiree! For ages 3 & up, tickets for Renton residents are $15 while tickets for non-residents are $18. Neil Simon’s “Plaza Suite” at the Renton Civic Theatre: Directed by Misty Doty, enjoy this comedy play, a “wry tale of marriage in tatters.” Most showtimes are at 8 p.m., with the exception of 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets are $30 for adults, $25 per person for an adult group of 10+ people, $25 for seniors/students and $20 per person for senior/student groups of 10+ people. Renton Parkrun at Cedar River Trail: This weekly 5K community event takes place every Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Cedar River Trail trailhead by the I-405 overpass. This free event does require registration but is meant to be a fun event where walkers, joggers, runners, volunteers and spectators can come together. Nominations for Best of Renton 2024: Nominate your favorite businesses, community leaders and more for the Renton Reporter’s annual Best of Renton contest at https://vote.rentonreporter.com. The nomination round will run Jan. 8 through Feb. 2. Finalist round voting will open on March 14 and close on April 4. Winners will be announced May 2024.
