Run From the Cops 5K | SLIDESHOW

The special evening run began at 10 p.m. at The Landing and runners did a loop through the North Renton neighborhood, led by a police motorcycle and joined by some members of law enforcement in full uniform.

Renton participated in its first “Run From the Cops” 5K Saturday night to raise money for Special Olympics.

The special evening run began at 10 p.m. at The Landing and runners did a loop through the North Renton neighborhood, led by a police motorcycle and joined by some members of law enforcement in full uniform, “encouraging” the runners through the course.

Costumes were encouraged and several runners took to the streets in prison stripes, while one woman’s tongue-in-cheek doughnut costume got laughs from everyone.

The money raised will support Washington Special Olympians.
