A two-vehicle collision Feb. 2 on State Route 167 in Renton has hospitalized two men.
Law enforcement charged one of the drivers, a 28-year-old Renton man, with a DUI and vehicular assault for the collision.
First responders transported a 54-year-old Renton man to Harborview Medical Center for injuries and the 28-year-old to Valley Medical Center for injuries received in the collision.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision resulted from the 28-year-old’s vehicle following “too closely” to the 54-year-old man’s vehicle. According to the news release, the 28-year-old’s vehicle struck the rear of the 54-year-old’s vehicle as they traveled northbound on State Route 167 at 180th Street.
The 28-year-old’s vehicle crossed lanes and struck the left shoulder barrier, arriving at a stop. The 54-year-old’s vehicle arrived at a stop in a ditch on the right shoulder.
According to state patrol, the collision resulted in roadway blockages for four hours and 20 minutes.
