Rotary Teachers of the Month

The Rotary Club of Renton has honored its Teachers of the Month for February.

As part of the recognition, teachers attend Rotary’s Teacher of the Month luncheon at Maplewood Golf Course. Each teacher receives $200 for classroom supplies or instructional materials.

• Allison Fox is a second-grade teacher at Bryn Mawr Elementary.

She earned her teacher certification and a bachelor’s degree in psychology with an emphasis in early childhood from Western Washington University.

She is now working on a master’s degree in theology at Regent University in Vancouver, B.C.

This is Fox’s third year teaching in Renton School District.

• Sandra Hachtel is a music teacher at Hazelwood, Highlands and Benson Hill elementaries.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in music and Spanish from Western Oregon University and received her teaching certification from Linfield College. She earned her master’s degree in English as a Second Language and bilingual education at Western Oregon University.

Hachtel has been a teacher in Renton for two years.

• Carla Smith is a business education teacher at Sartori Education Center.

She majored in business education at Western Washington University. She earned a master’s degree in curriculum development and instructional methods at City University.

This is Smith’s 18th year teaching in Renton.
