Motorcyclist killed in collision with elk on I-90 near North Bend

The 46-year-old from Renton was struck by another vehicle before authorities arrived at the scene.

A 46-year-old female motorcyclist from Renton is dead after colliding with an elk on westbound Interstate 90 at milepost 27 near North Bend early Saturday morning.

The accident, resulting in the motorcyclist being thrown from her bike, occurred around 2:45 a.m. July 6, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP).

According to the WSP, after the collision, the motorcyclist was then hit by a white camper van. The driver stopped briefly before leaving the scene and continuing westbound.

The identity of the motorcyclist, who was declared dead at the scene, has not yet been made public.

WSP is continuing work to investigate the incident and identify the van’s driver, and asks the public to contact the WSP communications center at 425-401-7788 with any relevant information.

All westbound lanes of I-90 were closed due to the accident, but were opened at 7:50 a.m. the same morning.
