Soroptimists of Renton raised about $16,000 for the Renton community during its annual dinner and auction at the Fairwood Golf and Country Club Feb. 7. The theme was “All that Jazz.”

Of the $16,000 raised, $6,585 will go to the Renton Salvation Army for the operation of its food-filled backpack program at several Renton elementary schools. Another $8,475 will be split between a variety of Renton organizations and programs.

Soroptimists of Renton will also donate $4,575 toward awards and scholarships.
