Battle of the Acoustic Bands at Drum Roll Wine: In celebration of Drum Roll Wine’s first year in downtown Renton, the wine bar is hosting a music competition to highlight local musicians as they battle for the title of Best Acoustic Act. Starting at 3 p.m., attendees can “look forward to a friendly atmosphere, the opportunity to support local talent, and plenty of delicious wine.” This is an all-ages event. Visit drumrollwine.com. One-Year Birthday Week Celebration at Crown Yoga: This week-long event in celebration of Crown Yoga’s one-year anniversary will kick-off Sunday with discounted and complementary classes, including $10 drop-in rates, a sound bath and more. Pre-registration is required at crownyoga.co/anniversary. Crown Yoga is located at 17056 116th Avenue Southeast in Cascade Village of Fairwood.

The Renton American Legion Fred Hancock Post 19 Business Meeting: The Renton American Legion Fred Hancock Post 19 meets the second Tuesday of every month, except July and August, at 7 p.m. at the Post Hall, 3224 NE 12th Street, in the Renton Highlands, under the water tower. All veterans welcome. Most vets eligible for membership. America’s premier patriotic veterans organization and the prime driver of the original G.I. Bill, the Legion focuses on service to veterans and has influenced considerable social change in America, won hundreds of benefits for veterans, and produced many important programs for the community, children and youth.

Project Be Free presents Family Resource Night at VFW Post 1263: From 3-7 p.m., get connected with nonprofits and organizations throughout Renton and South King County that provide counseling, legal support, support groups, youth mentorship and more. Oct. 17

Café Vets: Monthly gathering of veterans and guests for coffee and refreshments hosted by Renton American Legion Post 19 and Auxiliary Unit 19 on the third Thursday of every month (except December) from 10 a.m. to noon. Come for coffee, camaraderie and goodies. Legion membership is not a requirement, though most veterans are eligible for membership. Post Service Officer will be on hand, in case someone needs assistance with a VA claim. No agenda, just veterans getting together with other veterans and their friends. Post Hall is in the Renton Highlands, under the water tower (3224 Northeast 12th Street).

Fall Holiday Bazaar at Renton United Methodist Church: From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., enjoy a soup lunch and freshly made goodies. You will find quilts, quilted table toppers, aprons, napkins, holiday decorations, soup mixes, fabric purses, knit dish cloths, scrubbies, jam, yarn, knitting needles and much more. Olde Fashioned Halloween Party at Gateway Park: This extra fun downtown Halloween party will be from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be a costume contest (for those on four-legs as well as two) games, vendors, candy and a chance to complete a riddle card game by finding all the clues throughout the downtown business-fronts. Saturdays

Renton Parkrun at Cedar River Trail: This weekly 5K community event takes place every Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Cedar River Trail trailhead by the I-405 overpass. This free event does require registration but is meant to be a fun event where walkers, joggers, runners, volunteers and spectators can come together.
