“The doors are open, and everyone is welcome.”

To show a new creative direction from the Renton Civic Theatre’s new board of directors, the RCT is offering some community theater programming for the holiday season, including a Holiday Soirée and a magical retelling of “A Christmas Carol.” The RCT welcomes “audiences to reconnect with the arts and support local cultural enrichment.”

Moving forward

Following an overhaul of RCT leadership in September after a social media campaign discovered a history of sex crimes for two members of the previous leadership team, the RCT is moving forward. In a press release, the new board of directors gave the following statement with the announcement of the holiday programming:

“After undergoing a seismic shift in leadership in mid-2024, the future of this treasured community space was uncertain. When a group of local theatre enthusiasts stepped up to right the ship, they brought with them varied expertise, energy, and unmatched enthusiasm. Together, they have cleaned and restored the RCT space and launched a completely new season for 2025. RCT’s message to the community this holiday season is: ‘The doors are open, and everyone is welcome.’”
