Now in its seventh year, the Seahawks 12K is scheduled for Sunday, April 17. It provides three different courses for fans of all ages and skill levels. Participants are encouraged to run in their favorite Seahawks gear or gameday attire for a chance to win prizes for “Best Costume.”
Proceeds from the event will benefit A Better Seattle (ABS), an initiative working to reduce and prevent youth and gang violence in the greater Seattle area. ABS funds and supports the deployment of YMCA of Seattle’s Alive & Free professional trained street outreach workers who serve youth impacted by gangs, violence and the juvenile justice system in South King County
The 12K route starts at The Landing and travels north along the southeast shore of Lake Washington Blvd. and offers participants a unique opportunity to run around the Seahawks training facility, Virginia Mason Athletic Center. Runners return to Lake Washington Boulevard and travel south to finish at The Landing.
The GLOW 5K Run/Walk route is a very flat, fast 3.1 mile route that travels through The Landing then south into surrounding neighborhoods.
Play 60 Kids Run is a half-mile run completely contained within The Landing. The route also splits at about 1/8th of a mile for the younger kids who may not be able to make the full half-mile distance. All registered Kids Run participants will receive a t-shirt and a ribbon.
Online registration is open through today, Thursday, April 14 at www.seahawks12krun.com. Late registration is available at Dick’s Sporting Goods at The Landing on Saturday, April 16 from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m. and on race day from 6:30 a.m. till 8:45 a.m.
The 12K race will at 9 a.m., GLOW 5K run/walk at 9:20 a.m. and the Play 60 Kids Run will begin at 10:45 a.m.
