Lindbergh coach and two players receive top Seamount League football honors

Tre Russell and Daniel Wiitenan each received individual honors, as did Renton's Ernie Davis.

In his first year as head coach of the Lindbergh Eagles, Matt Leamer led his team to an undefeated record and a date with Mark Morris High School in the first round of the state tournament this weekend at the Tacoma Dome.

Now he can add one more honor: Seamount League Coach of the Year.

Leamer this week was named the top coach in the league and was joined by two of his players at the top of the individual honors. Tre Russell was named Defensive Lineman of the Year and Daniel Wiitenan, whose seven touchdowns in the last two games have powered the Eagles to victory, was named Offensive Back of the Year.

Also receiving a top individual honor was Renton’s Ernie Davis who earned the Defensive Back of the Year award.

In addition, several players from the three Renton schools were named to the all-league team.

From Lindbergh, Russell, defensive backs Devon Jackson and Khalil Burton, offensive guard D’Shaun Simms, receiver Devon Jacskson, running back Wiitenan and punter Ryan Hoover were all named to the first team.

From Renton, Davis was named an all-league linebacker and running back, offensive tackle Micah Precott and place kicker Zach Hasson made the first team.

From Hazen, defensive end Jordan Abdullah, linebacker Joe Glaefke, defensive back Marquise Lee, center Parker Trewitt, and offensive guard Rafael Ayala all were named to the first team.

Making the All-League second team were defensive tackles Kory Solo of Lindbergh, Quadir Griffin of Hazen and Micah prescott of Renton; linebackers Elijah Clayton and Lindbergh’s Simms; defensive backs Juwan Robinson and Jouvani Robinson of Renton; offensive guards Jarrett Holt of Lindbergh and Dan Velncia of Renton; Lindbergh’s Russell also received a second-team nod for offensive tackle; tight end Justin Anderson of Hazen, reciever Isaiah Davis of Hazen; running back Lee of Hazen; and quarterback Nolan Hoover  of Hazen.

Receiving honorable mentions were defensive tackle Holt of Lindbergh; defensive ends Carlos Guttierrez of Renton and Rafael Ayala of Hazen; linebackers Derek Armstrong of Renton, Dassaun Sauls and A.J. Solano of Renton and Cam Felt and Parker Trewett of Hazen; defensive backs J.D. Petreson and Austin Buza of Hazen, Brandon Mills of Lindbergh ad Brian Phillips of Renton; offensive guard Devyn Crich of Hazen; offensive tackle Paul Charbonneau of Hazen; receivers Jouvani Robinson and Michael Miller of Renton and Khalil Burton of Linbergh; running backs Kaleb Magee and Ryan Wong of Hazen and Renton quarterback Clayton.
