Last second layup lifts Indians to victory in third-place game.

The Renton girls basketball team is bringing home a third-place trophy from this weekend’s state tournament in Yakima.

Renton won their final game over River Ridge 34-33 on a last-second layup by Seamount League Player of the Year Taylor Farris after River Ridge went ahead with 10 seconds on the clock, according to the Tourneytown website.

Farris led all scorers with 18 points. Jordan Armstrong, whose last-second basket put the Indians in the state tournament, added 11.

The Indians started the tournament strong, hanging on for a win against Wapato in Thursday night’s opener. But on Friday, W.F. West proved too much for the Indians, besting them 44-25 in Friday’s semi-final game.

The indians finish the year 22-5.
