The Old Renton Book Exchange is hosting a bake sale this weekend to raise funds for the shop, which is skirting closure.
The event is from noon to 5 p.m., Saturday, March 29 at 227 Wells Ave. South, Renton.
Patrons are being asked to contribute baked goods to the sale or make donations via the shop’s fundraising website .
Book exchange owner Dacia Hanson announced in January that the shop was facing hard times. She launched a fundraising campaign via the website and has since raised almost $3,500. The goal is to raise an additional $11,500.
“We are hoping that with your help and the support of the community at large that we can go on serving you, our wonderful neighbors and members of the DTR community for years to come,” Hanson wrote in a email.
The Old Renton Book Exchange will also host a benefit, the “Bookworm Burlesques 2” at 8 p.m., April 12. The event is for those 21 and up and will feature live performers and books. Advance tickets are $8 and entry at the door is $10 and are available at brownpapertickets.com. There are 40 VIP advance tickets available, which include a book signed by all the performers.
