St. Vincent de Paul Blanket and Coat Drive is asking people to “Help Warm a Heart” of a homeless person or needy person or family throughout November.

There are three ways to help:

• Drop off blankets or coats at St. Vincent de Paul Stores Nov. 1 – 15. The Renton store is at 2825 Sunset Blvd. N.E.

• Bring a blanket or coat to Husky Stadium on Nov 8 for the University of Washington vs. Arizona State University game

• Hold a collection at work, school or place of worship.

Local groups are encouraged to collect canned food, too.

“No one should be freezing on our streets or cold in our neighborhoods because they don’t have a warm blanket or coat. Even in tough times, each of us can find a blanket or coat to help Warm a Heart,” says project spokesperson Richard Bray.

Throughout King County the calls for assistance for help is up 60 percent over this time last year.

St. Vincent de Paul is known for its outreach to the poor through home visits, thrift stores and food pantries—often called Compassion in Action. This year is the 175th anniversary of the founding of the organization.
