Renton police ask for public’s help in finding missing Renton man

UPDATE:

Jason Masangkay has contacted his family.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Renton Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in finding Jason Masangkay, a young man who has been missing since last Friday morning, Jan. 22.

Masangkay, who is a fitness buff, routinely goes for long walks from his home in northwest Renton into the Tukwila, Kent and surrounding areas, often stopping to eat at restaurants along the way, according to a Police Department press release.

He is easy to recognize when he walks because he folds his pant legs up to keep them from getting wet, according to police. On weekends he would visit Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and frequented the Tukwila Community Center.

When his family last saw him, he was very distraught over work-related matters, according to police, adding it is uncharacteristic for Masangkay to not contact his family.

He is described as an Asian Male, 25 years old, 5-foot-10, 165 pounds, black hair and may have a mustache or goatee. He was last known wearing blue jeans, black shoes, navy blue windbreaker-type jacket and was carrying backpack.

Because Masangkay may be emotionally unstable, the public is urged not to contact him directly, according to police.

Anyone who has seen Masangkay since the morning of Jan. 22 or knows where he is is asked to call 911 or the Renton Police Department at 425-430-7500 who will notify the family. Callers should refer to the police case number,2010-952.
