The Hazen girls tennis team stayed undefeated on the season with a 4-3 victory Friday over Kennedy.
The Hazen team was led by its singles players, three of whom cruised to wins.
First singles player Haley Strandberg led the way with a 6-2, 6-0 win and second singles player Elise Wong matched her with a 6-2, 6-1 victory of her own. Third singles player Ashley Hwang also got in on the action, beating her opponent 6-0, 6-1.
Fourth singles player Catherine Lin, however, ran into trouble, dropping her match 2-6, 4-6.
In doubles play, the first doubles team of Kristal Kozai and Lesley Wong picked up a win, beating their opponents 6-4, 6-1 to ensure the team victory.
The second doubles team of Tina Chung and Naima Shaltu dropped, their first set but rallied in the second, but were unable to keep the momentum through the third set for a final match score of 4-6, 6-4, 4-10. Third doubles team of Kitty Ling and Kristy Huynh had a similar match, but battled longer into the tiebreak, eventually falling 4-6, 6-4, 12-14.
The Highlanders are now a league-leading 5-0 on the season. They are scheduled to take on Lindbergh Monday at home and then are scheduled to welcome Tyee on Wednesday and Evergreen on Friday.
