No one has yet to step forward in the collision on June 26 that killed a Renton man riding home from work on his motorcycle.

No one has yet to step forward in the collision on June 26 that killed a Renton man riding home from work on his motorcycle.

The victim, Daren Dougan, 40, was left critically injured on the pavement at South 45th Place South and Talbot Road South. The driver of the other vehicle, a white SUV, fled the scene.

Dougan was riding home from his job at Mor Furniture for Less in Kent when the accident occurred at about 11 p.m.

Several drivers passed by without offering assistance or calling for aid.

Dougan was just a short distance from Valley Medical Center and its emergency room. His family believes that those few minutes when passersby drove by his body probably cost him his life.

Now, the Renton Police Department is conducting an intensive investigation to find the driver of the SUV who fled the scene.

CrimeStoppers has also offered a reward for information, although callers so far have not provided useful information.

Investigators are obtaining footage from security cameras at businesses as far away as Carr Road and the Benson Highway.

The hope is to spot the white SUV on camera and obtain a license plate number, according to Renton police Sgt. Clark Wilcox.

The SUV’s driver had limited choices where to head after the accident. Witnesses said the driver went westbound on South 45th Place, which would have eventually taken him to Carr Road; there, the only choice is to turn right, or east, across the street from the hospital.

“We are still paying cat and mouse,” said Wilcox.

The Police Department also has blanketed nearby apartment complexes and homes with flyers containing a photo of a SUV similar to one thought involved in the accident.

Anyone with information about the accident can call the Renton Police Department at 425-430-7500.

Passage of time doesn’t dampen police hopes that the case will be solved. Sometimes the investigation can last for months before a big break.

“Traffic has been pretty good at this,” said Wilcox.
