I am a recently annexed resident of the City of Renton. I was active getting the Benson Hill area annexed less than two years ago. Now that I’ve been successful removing myself from unincorporated King County, I can say that the decision was a major improvement in my life and that of many others.
The information being put out on incorporation of a new City of Fairwood only confuses those who vote YES, and the result will be disappointment and suffering. I keep hearing that if you don’t vote YES on incorporation, you will automatically become part of Renton. While I honestly don’t see a problem with that, it is not true. On this vote the majority of voters will decide to incorporate or stay unincorporated in King County, and only those two choices. There is no choice to vote to annex to Renton in the upcoming election. This was proven with the vote in 2006. Many times there was the threat that you would automatically be annexed to Renton. This was proven false. To annex you would follow the same route we did in the Benson Hill area and require a majority affirmative vote to annex to the fine City of Renton.
I’m pleased to be a resident of and am very happy with my decision to annex to Renton.
