Renton School Distirct named to College Board’s ‘Honor Roll’

The district is featured on the Honor Roll for having expanded access to higher education by providing students with rigorous academic offerings and innovative college-preparation programs.

Renton School District is one of only 130 school districts in the country to be placed on the College Board’s Gaston Caperton Opportunity Honor Roll for creating opportunities in education for traditionally underrepresented students.

The district is featured on the Honor Roll for having expanded access to higher education by providing students with rigorous academic offerings and innovative college-preparation programs.

Districts on the Honor Roll demonstrated significant and consistent growth in the number of underrepresented students and students from lower-income backgrounds participating in Advanced Placement (AP) courses and exams, taking the SAT college-entrance exam and applying to four or more colleges.

RSD has seen a 196 percent increase in the number of students who took the SAT, 85 percent increase in the number of students who earned a SAT score of 1550 or higher and a 53 percent increase in the number of students who sent their SAT scores to at least four colleges.
