The community may soon get an answer to the future of the downtown Liberty Park Library building.

Renton City Council voted to move the current library at Liberty Park to a new location on Third Avenue this past summer.

A steering committee has been working on coming up with a new use for the building since this fall.

The committee and City of Renton staff will hold an open house for the public to share their ideas and comments on three possible uses for the building from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Feb. 15.

The meeting will be held at the Renton Community Center, Room A, 1715 Southeast Maple Valley Highway in Renton.

The Liberty Park Library Building could become an environmental interpretative center, arts/cultural center or a “third place” community gathering space.

Members of the community are also being asked to respond to a short online survey to provide their feedback and opinions of the library building.

The survey is available at www.rentonwa.gov from Feb. 10 to 21.
