Woman, boyfriend’s mom get into struggle

A 21-year-old Renton woman reported that her boyfriend’s mother tried to hit her and his father punched her in the head on Jan. 8.

The dispute happened around 7:30 p.m. and several officers arrived to investigate but heard conflicting reports from all involved.

Police did not discover any injuries to the 21-year-old that suggested she was the victim of assault. The woman told police she did not want to be listed as a victim of assault. Her boyfriend, a 23-year-old man, apparently had recently gone through counseling to quit drugs. His parents called the woman and told her not to come to their residence, but she came anyway.

According to the 23-year-old’s sister, the parents attempted to remove the girlfriend and the girlfriend and the mother struggled with each other.

Police did not find any reason to arrest anyone because of the conflicting stories.

Phone harassment

On Dec. 31, Renton Police looked into a series of prank phone calls originating in Renton to nursing homes, mostly in Minnesota.

Police were first led to three phone calls that went to a Good Samaritan nursing home in Minnesota. Then they determined the suspect made a total of 39 calls around the same time to other nursing homes. Most were Good Samaritan nursing homes, but a few were located outside of Minnesota.

An employee of one of the homes stated the suspect said he was 19-years-old and made explicit comments about elderly people living there.

Police then followed phone records to a man in Renton and then to another man living in Glencoe, Minn.

Medical gear stolen

A Renton woman reported that medical equipment was stolen from her mother’s apartment on Jan. 8.

The 44-year-old woman said she and her mother moved out of the residence, but she kept belongings stored there. She discovered three medical oxygen tanks and a set of spare keys were missing from the apartment. The theft happened between Jan. 4 and 8. The woman contacted the building management about the theft, but they denied any involvement.

Boathouse burgled

An employee of a business in the Renton boathouse on the Cedar River at Lake Washington reported that items were stolen on Jan. 9.

Approximately $90 and photography equipment were stolen overnight. The employee arrived at the business around 6 a.m. and discovered a computer and heater on, missing items and pry marks on the safe.

The locks were changed to the building.
