The fifth annual Dance for a Cure benefit, called “Silent Awakening,” is May 16 at 5:30 p.m. at the Moore Theater in Seattle.

Net proceeds from the show will go to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research and Pete Gross House.

“Silent Awakening,” put on by Mo-Dazz for the Arts, includes a silent auction and dance performances featuring three Renton women: Jen and Cortny Bourbonnais and Jennifer Luger.

Master of ceremonies is Tricia Grove, a Renton attorney and former Husky and Sonics cheerleader. Grove has battled cancer since 2002 and is the inspiration behind Dance for a Cure. She is the sister of “Dance for a Cure” producer Elizabeth Lanning.

The adult jazz group “Pure Joy” will perform at the benefit in honor and memory of a former dance colleague, Julie Becker, and Viviana Ulloa, a special friend and dance mom.

Seattle music group The Coats and teachers and choreographers Joelle Martinec and Christina Woodard of Los Angeles and Kourtni Lind of the TV show “So You Think You Can Dance” are helping with the show.

Mo-Dazz for the Arts is an award-winning pre-professional performing group that provides opportunities to young dancers ages 7-18.
