The Renton Civic Theatre will host auditions for the 27th annual Summer Teen Musical May 20-21.
This summer’s production is “Guys and Dolls,” directed by Alan Wilkie.
Auditions will be 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., May 20 – 21, with callbacks on May 22 at 7 p.m.
The teen musical is a long-standing Renton tradition and calls upon the talents of local youth.
The casting call is for teens ages 13 to 19 and auditions will take place at Carco Theatre, 1717 SE Maple Valley Highway, in Renton.
Teens are asked to prepare a one-minute monologue and 32 bars of music and also bring along a headshot, resume and sheet music. An accompanist will be provided.
Bill Huls, theatre artistic director, chose “Guys and Dolls” because he wanted something kids would enjoy as well as a popular classic that adults could appreciate.
The program will cast between 24 and 40 parts.
The program is tuition-based and the fee is $200; however there are scholarships available for teens who cannot afford tuition.
Huls is looking for more support for the program including corporate sponsorship and volunteers.
To schedule an audition time, call the Renton Civic Theatre Box Office at 425-226-5529 and leave a message or email the requested audition time to boxoffice@rentoncivictheater.org.
