RENTON BLOTTER: Abusive husband needed for rent money

The following information was compiled from City of Renton police reports.

A woman called police after her husband struck her in the jaw but didn’t want the responding officers to do anything more than give him a warning, because she couldn’t afford rent without him.

The couple was arguing about the husband’s relationship with another woman, when he reportedly hit her on the 400 block of South 53rd Place May 22.

The husband left when she called police to avoid being arrested.

Police took a photo of the red mark on her jaw.

Furnishing alcohol to a minor

A 25-year-old Renton man was arrested for giving a camel back water bag full of beer to a 16-year-old at the skate park at 1414 Houser Way N. May 23.

Police first approached a group of boys when they smelled marijuana in the air. When one officer asked the teen to take the backpack off, the 25-year-old shouted “That’s my bag” and said the teen was just holding it for him.

The officer asked why the teen was sucking from the tube if he was just holding the bag.

Handgun in bushes

As police officers were investigating a shoplift, they found a handgun left in the bushes at the Shell Gas Station at 300 Rainier Ave. S.

When the officer arrived at about 11 p.m. May 23, the officer saw a man nervously walk toward some bushes. The man was questioned and released, because he didn’t meet the shoplifter description.

Looking into the bushes for discarded stolen property, the officer discovered a loaded .22-caliber Beretta handgun.

The officer didn’t have enough evidence to make an arrest.
