Arrest made in Bellevue in Renton-area shooting

King County sheriff’s detectives arrested an armed suspect in a Renton-area shooting after a four-hour standoff with detectives and SWAT members at about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday in Bellevue, according to the King County Sheriff's Office.

The suspect is a 23-year-old man is wanted in a shooting April 8 inchich a man was shot in the leg during a fight.

Detectives located the suspect at about 6 p.m. in the 4900 block of Lakemont Boulevard in Bellevue.  When detectives attempted to arrest the suspect, he put the barrel of a handgun in his mouth and threatened to kill himself, according to Sgt. Cindi West, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office.

The detectives backed off and called for hostage negotiators and the Sheriff’s Office SWAT, according to West.  At the same time, deputies and detectives had the local businesses lock down and eventually evacuated customers and employees from the businesses.

After a four-hour standoff with hostage negotiators, the suspect surrendered to deputies.  The suspect was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of charges related to the April 8 shooting.
