Holiday season kicked off in Renton last weekend

Renton’s annual lighting of the Christmas tree took place last Saturday at the Piazza.

City Councilman Randy Corman stood in for Renton Mayor Denis Law and flipped the switch for the Downtown Holiday Celebration and Tree Lighting, kicking off the start of the city’s holiday season.

There were plenty more festivities this past weekend in Renton, including the start of the popular Ivar’s Clam Lights.The lighting display in Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park was turned on Friday night and will shine nightly from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. through Jan. 1.
