As the longest single-family owned restaurant in Renton’s history, Vince’s Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria celebrated its 50th anniversary with a ribbon cutting, full seats and 1974 prices for select menu items.

From April 23-35, it was first-come, first-serve for patrons who wanted to enjoy the 1974 specials — which were $2 spaghetti with marinara sauce, $2.35 spaghetti with meatball, and $1.90 piccola pizzas with one topping choice.

Guests at the beloved restaurant were also given the chance to win their choice of one free pizza a month for one year, or an Italian feast for 12 in a private dining room at the restaurant.

The Renton Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Armondo Pavone, friends, family and former employees also gathered for Vince’s 50th anniversary ribbon cutting ceremony.

Vince Mottola Sr. and Ada Mottola opened the original Vince’s Italian restaurant in Rainier Beach in 1957 before expanding throughout the Puget Sound. In 1983, Vince Mottola Jr. took over the family business and has made Vince’s one of the most popular Italian eateries in Renton, accruing Best of Renton awards and named one of the Best of Western Washington 2016.
