The prime contractor of The Landing in north Renton, the S.D. Deacon Corp. of Washington, has received the Mixed-Use Construction Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Washington.
The organization recently recognized 15 projects with its 2009 Excellence in Construction Awards.
The awards credit all members of the teams responsible for winning projects, from contractors, subcontractors and suppliers, to owners, architects and engineers.
Owner of The Landing is Dallas-based Harvest Partners; the project architect is Callison Architecture.
The Landing is a modern urban village including retail, entertainment, multi-family living, and public spaces, as well as new roads and utility infrastructure.
Along with 24 steel and big-box buildings and a four-story, post-tension parking garage, Deacon also constructed a state-of-the-art, 14-screen Regal Cinema with stadium-style seating. Building facades included brick veneer, metal siding, concrete board siding, stucco, ceramic tile, glass storefront and aluminum mesh panels.
S.D. Deacon installed nearly 17 acres of asphalt parking lot, miles of underground electrical conduit, storm, water, and sewer lines that they connected to the City of Renton infrastructure.
The $73.5 million project was completed on-time, under-budget with no injuries in the 11,128 hours worked, according to the organization’s press release.
