Valley Medical Center unveils new logo for alliance

The most visible sign of the new alliance between Valley Medical Center and UW Medicine has been unveiled.

The most visible sign of the new alliance between Valley Medical Center and UW Medicine has been unveiled.

It’s the new logo that Valley Medical, UW Medicine and other parts of UW Medicine , such as Harborview Medical Center, will use to brand or market  themselves  individually or together as parts of UW Medicine’s “family.”

The co-branding is a way to quickly indicate which medical services, special events or programs are offered at each of UW Medicine’s institutions.

The  co-branding could take 18 months to two years to complete and eventually will include replacing the exterior signs that now just say Valley Medical Center. Those signs also will include UW Medicine.

VMC voted best place to work

Valley Medical Center has been named the No. 1 Best Workplace for 2011 in the extra large company category in Puget Sound Business Journal’s 2011 “Washington’s Best Workplaces.”

The medical center received the highest scores from its own employees and was given the gold award, selected from nearly 200 nominations. The announcement comes just after the hospital was named number one non-profit by Seattle Business in its annual “Washington’s 100 Best Companies to Work For,” and Modern Healthcare’s national “Top Ten Best Places to Work in Healthcare.”

“We are so honored to receive this recognition because we care deeply that our staff like where they work, that they want to come to work each day and take pride in what they do. We have long realized that a happy staff equals happy patients,” says Rich Roodman, Valley Medical Center CEO. “We’ve had a banner decade culminating in our recent affiliation with UW Medicine with whom we share a philosophy and mission to care for our community. I will always believe this starts with caring for our staff and we will strive to work harder for their benefit, so they might work happier.”

All 85 companies named in the magazine’s “Washington’s Best Workplaces 2011” were honored Aug. 11 at a special celebration at Safeco Field.

‘Top Docs’ named at VMC

Area magazines named 41 Valley Medical Center physicians in their ‘Top Doc’ issues for 2011.

Washington Magazine, Seattle magazine and Seattle Met magazine announced their picks for the best physicians in the region and Valley Medical staff were among them.

In Washington Magazine’s third ‘Best Doctors’ list, released in June 2011, 19 Valley Medical physicians representing 14 specialities were named. Seattle magazine released their 11th annual list in July 2011. Valley had 10 doctors representing eight specialities named to the magazine’s “Top Docs” for 2011 list. In Seattle Met’s fourth annual ‘Top Doctors’ survey of the Puget Sound 18 Valley physicians representing eight specialities were named.

VMC joint, spine center honored

Valley Medical Center was chosen by the publication Becker’s Hospital Review as one of ‘60 Hospitals with Great Orthopedic Programs.’ It was one of only two hospitals in Washington state selected.

The center was chosen by the publication for incorporating computer-assisted surgery technology for more precise placement of implants during joint replacement procedures and for having performed than 5,000 joint replacements over the past decade.

In addition to Valley Medical, UW Medicine was included in the publication’s list and underwent substantial review.
