I was told library would remain

Dear Mr. Mayor

You people lied when we had to vote on the Library issue. I specifically asked whether we would lose this beautiful and unique library site. I was told “absolutely not.” Now I read where you are thinking of allowing that ugly place close to the bus terminal to be used.

I am not about to accede quietly to the possibility that I might have to curtail any evening visits to the library because I don’t feel safe in that area after dark. I even question whether it is safe in daylight. I will NOT, above all, park in one of those parking garages in that area. I think you are letting the people of Renton be put in jeopardy by any relocation to the downtown area.

I wonder who has their eye on that remarkable property the library building sits on. I think it is worth looking into. What a dirty trick it was in the first place to encourage voters to turn our facility over to King County. I hope you are satisfied.
