Two weeks of repeated negative nonsense by Judith E. White in your Letters to the Editor column show how out of touch she is with reality. In her last letter, White criticized the city for allowing a banner to be placed on City Hall for a short time. That banner will recognize the tremendous generosity of several Renton businesses that are donating 10s of thousands of dollars in support of Friends of Renton Schools, a new program to provide educational opportunities for local students. What a crime!
And now she suggests that the city is at fault as it takes proactive measures to limit the number of legal strip clubs that could locate in Renton in the future. Her flippant comment that the owner of the strip club should make a donation to the Friends of Renton Schools so that it could be included on the banner is rude, lame and out of place.
Apparently Judith E. White missed the news about our country being in a major recession. She also missed news reports showing that the state, county and every city are making significant cuts in services due to the economy, and that millions of dollars are being cut from our public schools, which will have a major impact on the ability to educate our kids.
I applaud the efforts of the local business leaders for raising money during this difficult economy to help our kids to succeed in school. And I applaud the city for allowing a banner to be placed on City Hall for a little recognition to those businesses making significant donations to the effort to raise $1.5 million.
I would welcome reading what positive contributions Judith E. White has made to make this community a better place to live.
