Renton Public Library offers outreach programs

I am writing in response to the Aug. 21 letter to the editor of Gerry Newman about the library’s annexation to King County Library System.

While we at the Renton Public Library are indeed unable to offer the wide breadth of services KCLS offers through its Traveling Library, we do have a new outreach program that delivers library materials to Renton residents who are unable to get to and/or use the library because of disability of disability or mobility issues. Our outreach patrons receive full access to the library’s collection, including Large Print books, audiobooks, DVDs, VHS tapes, etc., as well as all regular library services, including InterLibrary Loan and the opportunity to participate in adult reading programs, such as summer reading.

We also offer services by request to adult family homes and assisted living facilities. While we do not have a bookmobile, I personally work with each facility to meet their needs as best we can through delivery service.

Anyone who wishes to learn more about or sign up for the library’s outreach service is encouraged to call me directly at 425-430-6835.
