What has happened to Renton?

I realize we are all attempting to reduce our expenditures; however, it seems that some of the recent problems are unnecessary.

The first issue is the cleaning of the streets during the December snow storms. The sanding of intersections appeared to be adequate but whoever had the brilliant idea of plowing the streets on one side and not the other was surely not thinking at all.

Our next issue is the new refuse pickup. We were never notified that our pickup day was changed nor did we ever receive the new containers. I have called Waste Management twice, once with the 425 number and once with the 800 number after long waits on the phone. Both promised that the containers would be delivered the week of Jan. 12. The second told me of the change in pickup days when I complained that our refuse had been sitting on the roadside for several days. He said he would have a courtesy pickup either Tuesday, Jan. 13, or Wednesday, Jan. 14. A new container was delivered to our next-door neighbor on Friday, Jan. 16. She told them that we had not received our containers either. They drove right past our house. We still have no containers and the refuse is an eyesore sitting at our roadside. Our fees went up, our service went down. I’m sure we are not the only ones to have these experiences.
