Sunny weather lured pumpkins, princesses and monsters to the ‘Olde’ Fashion Halloween Party Saturday.
With free games at the party and trick-or-treating at businesses, families flocked downtown Renton, sporting costumes of both enchantment and ghoul.
“It’s daytime, so it’s safe for trick-or-treating,” said Jackie Connell, whose three daughters were dressed in princess outfits. “We’re impressed and thankful to have something like this in our town.”
At the Halloween party, in an alley across the street from Uptown Glassworks, children ran from booth to booth playing old-style games from bean bag tosses to cake walks and fishing.
Families enjoyed free hot cider and popcorn. Spider rings, bubbles and Hostess cupcakes were among the prizes.
“We’ve been here three years,” said Ameo Lynch. “We look forward to it.”
The event brings families and their business to downtown. Parents ordered lattes at local coffee shops, while children collected their treats.
“We like to support the local shops,” Connell said.
