The Renton Municipal Arts Commission is displaying original oil artwork by painter Don Haggerty through Oct. 8 at Carco Theater.
An opening reception with Haggerty is 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11.
Haggerty is known for his brushwork and figurative painting, which he expresses through oil on canvas. His work is exhibited throughout the Puget Sound region.
Haggerty was born in Seattle but grew up in Taiwan where he acknowledges having gained from Chinese artists his deep appreciation for the beauty and power of a finely executed brush stroke — “a brush ballet,” he calls it.
Carco Theatre, adjacent to the Renton Community Center, is located at 1717 Maple Valley Highway at the intersection of I-405 and Maple Valley Highway. Theatre hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with additional viewing on show nights.
