A few days after the feasting of turkey and cranberries, Renton kicked off the holiday season with a jolly-packed Saturday.
Starting with the Renton Holiday Farmers Market at Piazza Park from noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 30, shoppers were encouraged to shop through the vendors and throughout the downtown area for Small Business Saturday.
At 5 p.m., Renton Parks and Recreation hosted the annual tree lighting ceremony and the arrival of Santa Claus, who was chauffeured by Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer in a vintage Renton Fire Department fire engine. The two were swarmed by a crowd of kids and families, who followed them into the Pavilion Event Center for photos with Santa until 7 p.m.
