Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra to present Renton concert

The Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra will present a family concert in Renton 3 p.m. Oct. 25 at the IKEA Performing Arts Center sponsored by Allied Arts of Renton.

Under the directorship of Adam Stern, the concert will feature the music of two French composers, Maurice Ravel and Claude Debussy.

Allied Arts is keeping ticket prices low with assistance from the Renton School District and the Municipal Arts Commission of Renton.

Students are $3, senior citizens $5 and adults $8. They may be purchased at the door or in advance at LA Frames or King and Bunny’s Appliances

The Seattle Philharmonic is an orchestra of community members who share a passion for music. As part of their outreach program, student musicians are invited to join them in rehearsals and on stage at the performance which will include the ever-popular “Bolero” by Ravel.

Student musicians will be selected by their instructors, Christi Florence of Hazen High School, Lauren Daugherty of Lindbergh High School and Diana Hagen, liaison for Alexei Girsh, conductor of the Renton Youth Symphony Orchestra.

The IKEA Performing Arts Center is adjacent to Renton High School on Third Avenue in downtown Renton.
