Hip hop superstar and marijuana legend Snoop Dogg made an appearance in Renton Friday night, drawing a big crowd to the Emerald Haze Emporium recreational marijuana shop on Sunset Avenue in the Highlands.

Emerald Haze president and CEO Jim Buchanan knows Snoop Dogg from time spent in the music business and he wanted to host the musician to give back to the community and his customers. This the second time Snoop Dogg has appeared at the shop, but the first time was not open to the public.

“Seattle is like a second home to me,” Snoop Dogg said during a press event prior to the public event. “Like my cousins.”

Though Snoop Dogg recently unveiled a brand of marijuana, Leafs By Snoop, it is currently only available in Colorado, though he said he is working to get it into Washington, specifically to Emerald Haze.

“Times are changing ans it’s about what’s right right now,” he said of legalization efforts.
