Battle of the Badges at the Renton Community Center: From 5:30 to 8 p.m., cruise through this free drive-through holiday light display and vote for your favorite from different public safety personnel departments throughout the region. Battle of the Badges will also accept non-perishable food items to help support local food banks. Located at 1715 Maple Valley Highway.

Variety Plus presents Puss in Boots Family Musical at Carco Theatre: There will be a 4 p.m. and a 7 p.m. performance of this all-ages production, featuring Seattle area youth and adults. Renton City Concert Band Winter Concert at Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center: Join the Renton City Concert Band and conductor Michael Simpson during their seasonal winter concert from 2 – 4 p.m. Tickets are $10 for students and seniors 50+, $13 for adults. The Renton American Legion Fred Hancock Post 19: This organization meets the second Tuesday of every month, except July and August, at 7 p.m. at the Post Hall (3224 NE 12th St.) in the Renton Highlands under the water tower. All veterans are welcome. Most vets are eligible for membership. America’s premier patriotic veterans’ organization and the prime driver of the original G. I. Bill, the Legion focuses on service to veterans, has influenced considerable social change in America, won hundreds of benefits for veterans and produced many important programs for the community, children and youth. The Renton Reporter & Umpqua Bank presents Fem Allies In Business (F.A.B.) at Umpqua Bank: A professional women’s networking group, this event is held every second Thursday of the month and is a free event that includes light breakfast, tea and coffee, time for mingling and two guest speakers. Evergreen City Ballet presents Wade Walthall’s The Nutcracker at Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center:
It wouldn’t be Christmas without the Nutcracker Ballet! Friday night’s performance will be at 7 p.m., Saturday’s one-hour family-friendly performance will be at 1:30 p.m. which will be followed by a full-length performance later at 7 p.m. The final Sunday performance will be at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $44 for adults ages 19-59, $19 for children and students age 18 and under and $34 for military and for seniors age 60 and up. Renton Parkrun at Cedar River Trail: This weekly 5K community event takes place every Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Cedar River Trail trailhead by the I-405 overpass. This free event does require registration but is meant to be a fun event where walkers, joggers, runners, volunteers and spectators can come together.
