Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Dinner at VFW Post 1263: The 50th anniversary of the last troops to leave Vietnam is March 29, and to celebrate, the Renton VFW will host a dinner at 1700 hours (that’s 5 p.m. to civilians). Free for all Vietnam veterans. VFW Post 1263 is located at 416 Burnett Avenue South, Renton.

Saturday, April 1

Renton Downtown Spring Clean at Renton Chamber of Commerce: From 9 to 11 a.m., join the Renton Downtown Partnership and help pick up litter and make downtown beautiful. All cleaning supplies like gloves, vests, trash bags and grabbers will be provided, as well as access to bathrooms and water. Volunteers will be emailed check-in information and can check-in at 8:50 a.m. the day of the clean-up. To register as a volunteer, email director@rentondowntown.com to learn more. Renton’s Dragon Quest at Downtown Renton: From noon to 5 p.m., join the magical, mythical scavenger hunt to celebrate the 4-year anniversary of Erasmus the Renton rooftop dragon. Four dragon eggs will be hidden across the city and all adventurers are warned to have a keen eye, a sharp wit and a couragous heart. To register for the event, visit rentonwa.gov/events.

Dragon Pub Crawl at Renton Downtown: In celebration of Erasmus the Dragon’s Hatching Month, Renton Downtown is putting on the Dragon Pub Crawl from 1 to 4 p.m. Tickets are $25, so get them while they’re as hot as dragon fire. Tickets include a commemorative cup and a sip from a variety of Downtown establishments. Tickets are available at rentondowntownpartnership.square.site.

Saturday, April 15

Renton Police Shred-A-Thon and Rx Drug Take Back at Renton Memorial Stadium: From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. (or until the trucks are full), this is a great, free opportunity to properly shred sensitive documents and get rid of unused or expired medications, as well as donate to a food drive. For details, visit RentonWa.gov/shredathon or call Stephanie Hynes at 425-430-7519. Located at 405 Logan Avenue North.

Dragon Dash 5K/10K Fun Run and Walk at Renton Downtown: An invigorating way to celebrate Renton’s rooftop dragon, Erasmus’ birthday, this event will begin at 10 a.m. and will include medieval knights, a sword in the stone and a dragon egg hunt for kids. Registration is $28 for the 5K and $38 for 10K. For more information, visit RentonWa.gov/dragonregister.

Thursday, April 20

Café Vets: Monthly gathering of veterans and guests for coffee and refreshments hosted by Renton American Legion Post 19 and Auxiliary Unit 19 on the third Thursday of every month (except December) from 10 a.m. to noon. Come for coffee and camaraderie and goodies. Legion membership is not a requirement, though most veterans are eligible for membership. Post Service Officer will be on hand, in case someone needs assistance with a VA claim. No agenda, just veterans getting together with other veterans and their friends. Post Hall is in the Renton Highlands, under the water tower (3224 NE 12th St.).

Free Museum Days at the Renton History Museum: Free admission to the museum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and enjoy the wonders of the past!
