Community Festival at Springbrook Church of Christ: From noon to 4 p.m., this free family event will include games, hot dogs, a water cage, face painting, a moon bounce, a photo booth, popcorn, cotton candy and a fun train express for the little ones. A representative from the Renton Mayor’s Office, Fire Department, and Police Department are participating along with local community resource representatives. The Springbrook Church is located at 10421 Southeast 192nd Street in Renton.
Sept. 19
Renton Candidate Forum for Mayor and City Council at Carco Theatre: Hear from all of the city council and mayoral candidates running this November at this candidate forum, where mayoral and city council candidates will talk about their policies and answer questions from the public. This open and free political event will begin with a social at 6:30 p.m. and the forum will be from 7-9 p.m. The forum will be at 1717 Maple Valley Highway in Renton and afterwards, the event will be posted online.
Sept. 21
Café Vets: Monthly gathering of veterans and guests for coffee and refreshments hosted by Renton American Legion Post 19 and Auxiliary Unit 19 on the third Thursday of every month (except December) from 10 a.m. to noon. Come for coffee and camaraderie and goodies. Legion membership is not a requirement, though most veterans are eligible for membership. Post Service Officer will be on hand, in case someone needs assistance with a VA claim. No agenda, just veterans getting together with other veterans and their friends. Post Hall is in the Renton Highlands, under the water tower (3224 NE 12th St.).

Superhero 5K Fun Run & Walk at Renton Community Center: The Renton Parks and Recreation department’s first superhero 5K will begin at 6 p.m. and participants are encouraged to wear capes with their running shoes. Check-in opens at 5 p.m. with a pre-race warm-up at 5:50 p.m. There will also be a superhero photo booth, lawn games, snacks and more. The Renton History Museum presents A Taste of Renton at VFW Post 1263: From 1-3 p.m., enjoy international food dishes and bid on unique items at this fundraiser for the Renton History Museum. Tickets are $35 per person or $210 for a table of six and are available by mail or online at rentonhistoricalsociety.salsalabs.org/fallfundraiser2023/index.html. Age Friendly Senior 50+ Resource Expo 2023: From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Don Persson Renton Senior Activity Center, this event will showcase over 35 vendor exhibits with presentations on health, finance, transportation, housing and more. 2023 Children’s Moon Cake Festival at Renton Community Center: Celebrate the autumn harvest and the full moon with this family-friendly event. Taking place from 5-7 p.m., this free event will have live performances, refreshments, mooncakes, kids crafts, photo opportunities and a movie screening at 7 p.m. in the Community Center gym.
Oct. 10
The Renton American Legion Fred Hancock Post 19: This organization meets the second Tuesday of every month, except July and August, at 7 p.m. at the Post Hall (3224 NE 12th St.) in the Renton Highlands under the water tower. All veterans are welcome. Most vets are eligible for membership. America’s premier patriotic veterans’ organization and the prime driver of the original G. I. Bill, the Legion focuses on service to veterans, has influenced considerable social change in America, won hundreds of benefits for veterans and produced many important programs for the community, children and youth. Come join area vets. Meeting dates for 2023 are Oct. 10, Nov. 14, and Dec. 12.
Saturdays, Sept. 16 to Sept. 30
Renton Parkrun at Cedar River Trail: This weekly 5K community event takes place every Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Cedar River Trail trailhead by the I-405 overpass. This free event does require registration but is meant to be a fun event where walkers, joggers, runners, volunteers and spectators can come together. Free Museum Days at the Renton History Museum: Free admission to the museum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and enjoy the wonders of the past!

Renton Farmers Market at Piazza Park: The Renton Farmers Market takes place every Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. until Sept. 26. Along with vendors, the Washington State University’s Master Gardeners will be there each week to answer garden-related questions.
